Throughout the Bible, God related to His people by establishing covenants with them. The original Hebrew word used for covenant is mentioned 286 times in the Old Testament alone and literally means “an agreement” or “a treaty.” Unfortunately, most Christians have not studied this important bond between God and humanity. Covenant traces God’s redemptive plan for us from the Old Testament covenant with the patriarchs to the new covenant ushered in by Jesus Christ. It focuses on God’s faithfulness, judgment, forgiveness, and sovereignty. Students will discover that they can only know God through a covenant relationship. They will be challenged to build their lives on His covenant promises.
