Dear Parents,
We are extremely excited to let you know about Confirmation 2010 with ELEVATE Student Ministry. Confirmation is a valuable time in the life of a student, in which they learn more about Christianity, explore their personal faith, and grow in a deeper knowledge of the Church and their role within it. We believe this is such an important part of their journey of faith and believe it is an important to focus all of our priorities around this.
Confirmation is for any student grades 6th-12th. Although we realize that the majority will be 6th, we know that some students have never had the opportunity to go through and welcome any student who would like to be part of Confirmation.
This year’s format is a little different from previous years because of a renewed passion we see in regards to making Confirmation a life changing experience and priority in the lives of our students and parents. Confirmation is a ten-week course mixed with a retreat weekend. Because of the short time in which we offer this and because we believe it should be a priority, below are a couple of important things to notice.
- Sunday JANUARY 31 is our kickoff Sunday for Confirmation. It is mandatory for students and at least one parent to be here from 9:45AM-11:00 AM in room 313.
- The retreat, which is April 16-18, is mandatory.
- Students are NOT allowed to miss any more than two Sundays of confirmation. Those two will need to be made up by watching a video of the session online and writing a half page summary of the message. Please be careful with missing those two days. For Example: Two Sundays are missed for a sporting event and then your child is sick and misses the third, he/she will not complete confirmation.
- Confirmation will meet each week from 9:45AM-11:00AM. Please notice that this is 15 minutes later then we have done in the past. We have tried in years past to do it 15 minutes earlier but half of the people were late. PLEASE BE ON TIME!
- DATES FOR CONFIRMATION: JANUARY 31: FEBRUARY 7, 14, 21: MARCH 7, 14, 21: APRIL 11
- Confirmation Rehearsal is Thursday April 22 at 6:30PM
- Confirmation Sunday is on Sunday APRIL 25 during the services.
