In Wishful Thinking Frederick Buechner writes that baptism “symbolizes in you the beginning of something strange and new and hopeful.”  Fine, we might ask – but then what?

Baptism is the beginning of a journey with new shoes on our feet, a journey in which we are shaped over our entire lives in the way of Jesus.  In baptism, says Paul, we “have clothed ourselves in Christ” (Galatians 3:27).  There are some very specific dimensions of following Jesus that are essential in staying on that journey, some places where those “new shoes” take us that we’ll address in this sermon series, and we hope you’ll be with us as we do it.
