Methodist Rural Center: Costa Rica
A small farm a few miles from the City of Quesada is the hub of The Methodist Rural Center in Costa Rica. The center serves as a site for religious retreats for Costa Rican adults and youth and provides a base for Christian outreach to the nearby villages and a federal prison. This outreach includes many activities directed toward improving the health and well-being of the local people including Vacation Bible School, new church construction, medical treatment, eye glass fitting, and other related endeavors. Three mission trips from First United Methodist Church Winter Park went to Costa Rica in 2007 with more planned this year.
