Disaster Relief
Disaster Relief
Our hearts and prayers go out to the people and communities affected by the earthquakes in Panua New Guinea and Chile. We are offering several ways you can be part of the relief efforts:
Pray
- Pray for the people and communities that have been hit by the storms. Lift up the emergency response and relief workers who will be assisting them.
Donate
- You may make a monetary donation to the disaster relief efforts either online or by check. The donations will support disaster relief work through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR*).
- Donations may be made through UMCOR here.
- Donations may be made through First United Methodist Church by giving a check designated to UMCOR.
- Donations may be made online through FUMCWP Access and designating your gift to the "Disaster Relief Fund".
Provide Supplies
- We are collecting the following items (new items only) to be sent to the affected areas: cloth hand towels, washcloths, combs at least 8” long (no pocket combs or picks), metal nail files or clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers), bath size soap 3 oz. and larger (do not remove from packaging), adult toothbrushes (do not remove from packaging), ¾” to 1 “ size common household band aids, plastic bags (one gallon sealable bags only), $1.00 to purchase toothpaste. Bring your donations to the Wesleyan Building kitchen.
Serve
- If you would like to serve on a response team, contact Carol Smith at carols(at)fumcwp.org or 407-644-2906, ext. 288.
