Jim Berlau

Jim Berlau has served as director of student ministries and assistant to the pastor at Peace United Methodist Church for over ten years. For the past three years, Jim has been a certified candidate for becoming an Ordained Elder within the United Methodist Church. He is currently working on attaining his master of divinity degree at Asbury Theological Seminary. Jim received his bachelor of science degree in communications and theatre arts with a concentration on acting and directing from Frostburg State University in the western region of Maryland in 1994. He met his wife, Bette, there when they played brother and sister in a play together. After coming to Walt Disney World on their honeymoon, Jim and Bette relocated to Orlando one year later. Jim and Bette have been married for almost eighteen years, and have two beautiful children. Their son, Zachary, is nine years old and is in the third grade, and their daughter, Madison, is six and is in kindergarten.
Jim eagerly anticipates the opportunity to bring his creativity, his passion for sharing God’s Word, his willingness to serve, and his team-focused leadership to the South Street Ministry. Jim believes this ministry, with its focus on outreach and unifying a diverse community, is the future of the church. He is honored to join the staff at First United Methodist Church of Winter Park as the future becomes the present. “May God bless the efforts of this congregation as we seek to be the Church in the South Street area, transforming the community through the strength of the Lord and for the glory of God.”
