About Community Cluster (2CG)

  • What: A small group of people (8 to 12) having fun, learning, laughing and doing life together.
  • Where: In your neighbor’s home– the 2CG Host
  • When: Weekly for at least five weeks, during the season of Lent. (Day of the week and time depends on your cluster.)
  • How: By consensus – except for starting curriculum which the hosts will select – all decisions will be made as a group. Decisions include how many weeks the group will meet, whether you’ll eat together and how childcare will be managed (if at all).
  • Why: To build friendships and faith in an informal, relaxed, accepting atmosphere.

  • How do I join a Community Cluster Group (2CG)?
    Search for your Cluster Host below and email the 2CG host directly to sign up.
  • Can I join a 2CG that is not my neighborhood?
    Yes!
  • Can I join a 2CG with my friend?
    Yes. Just sign up for the same one.
  • Will I have to pray or read the bible out loud?
    Not unless you volunteer!
  • Is there homework?
    It’s unlikely. The 2CG will decide by consensus.
  • Will the 2CG continue after 5 weeks?
    Individuals and the Group will evaluate their future in week 4.
  • Can I join a cluster of people my age?
    The 2CG ministry is intentionally intergenerational. If you would like an opportunity to connect with people in your age and life stage, please check out: http://www.fumcwp.org/adults/education/ for groups or http://www.fumcwp.org/dinnerfor8/ for our fellowship ministry.
  • Will the church nursery be available during my Community Cluster Group meetings?
    No. However, please talk with your 2CG host about childcare challenges you are facing. 2CGs can gather the kids at one house or all take a collection at the end of the study to help offset individual babysitting costs. Each Cluster will determine what will work best.
